LETTER TO THE WHITE HOUSE OPPOSING A CENTRAL BANK DIGITAL CURRENCY
Subject: Opposition to Any Implementation of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)
To the President and Administration Officials,
I am writing as a concerned citizen to express firm opposition to any effort by the federal government or the Federal Reserve to introduce a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in the United States.
A CBDC represents a dramatic shift in the relationship between citizens and their government, raising significant constitutional, economic, privacy, and civil-liberty concerns that cannot be ignored.
1. A CBDC Would Undermine Financial Privacy
Cash transactions currently provide Americans with lawful, private means of exchange.
A CBDC—by design—would allow the federal government or its agencies to:
Monitor every financial transaction
Track personal spending habits
Potentially freeze, block, or limit access to funds
Enforce compliance through financial control
This level of surveillance is incompatible with a free society.
2. A CBDC Concentrates Excessive Power in the Federal Government
A government-issued programmable digital currency could enable:
Centralized control of individual accounts
Restrictions on purchases deemed “unacceptable” or “undesirable”
Automated taxation or penalties
Expiration of funds
Restrictions on charitable giving, political donations, or travel
No American should ever be forced into a system where their financial freedom is dependent on political approval.
3. A CBDC Threatens The Constitutional Balance
The Constitution intentionally limits centralized power.
A CBDC would erode those limits by granting government unprecedented access to the personal economics of every citizen.
This represents a risk to:
The 4th Amendment right to privacy
The 5th Amendment protection against deprivation of property without due process
The 10th Amendment protections of state power and individual liberty
4. Existing Electronic Payment Systems Already Serve the Market
Americans already have access to:
Credit cards
Bank transfers
Apple Pay / Google Pay
Private digital currencies
Zelle / Venmo
Stablecoins (in the private sector)
There is no legitimate public demand for a CBDC. The only advantage a CBDC provides is centralized control—benefiting government agencies, not citizens.
5. The American People Must Have a Voice
A major change to our monetary system must not be implemented by federal agencies without full congressional debate and a national referendum.
I am requesting:
A public, written commitment from the administration to reject any federal rollout of a CBDC.
A guarantee that no federal agency will bypass Congress to implement a CBDC through executive action or regulatory authority.
Transparency regarding any ongoing development, research, partnership, or pilot programs involving CBDCs.
6. I Support Legislation That Prohibits a CBDC
Several members of Congress have proposed bills to prevent a CBDC. I support all efforts to:
Ban the Federal Reserve from issuing a CBDC
Protect cash as legal tender
Prevent financial surveillance of American citizens
Require congressional approval for any major changes in U.S. currency policy
In Closing
A CBDC would fundamentally alter American life, granting the federal government direct access to citizens’ financial autonomy.
I am respectfully demanding that the administration cease all CBDC planning and reject any future implementation.
The United States must remain a nation where citizens control their money— not the government.
Thank you for acknowledging this serious concern.
Signed,
